Letter to the Editor: Respectful in interacting with everyone, from defendants to bailiffs to judges

Thank you Amelia Lahn for your letter to the editor!

I’m writing to share that I am proud to vote for Jeff Kehr for judge and I urge others to do the same.

As a defense attorney, a significant part of my job is negotiating with prosecutors. Jeff is kind and respectful in interacting with everyone, from defendants to bailiffs to judges. Even when I was a brand-new attorney first practicing in Monroe County, Jeff treated me with the same respect and consideration he gave to senior members of the bar. Especially as a young woman new to the practice of law, this was very meaningful for me.

When it comes to legal experience, Jeff has tried over 50 felony jury trials. This will be an asset for a new judge because it gives him a vast working knowledge of case law, trial rules, and procedure. Jeff will be able to hit the ground running, which will make the court room run more smoothly for litigants, staff, and attorneys – this will be especially important when courts are dealing with the inevitable backlog created by COVID-19.

I unequivocally support Jeff Kehr for judge, and encourage you to vote for him on or before June 2nd!
